Lychee

In Nepal, lychee is a popular summer fruit primarily grown in the Terai plains and low hill regions. The harvest season is short, typically running from mid-May to June.
Lychees are nutritional powerhouses that offers a range of health benefits:
- Support immune system: High Vitamin C content which stimulates white blood cell production and helps the body fight infections,
- Support heart and vascular health: The fruit is a “decent source” of copper, essential for heart health and normal iron transport in the body. It also contains iron, manganese, and magnesium to support healthy blood formation,
- Support blood pressure regulation: Lychee contains significant potassium, which helps balance sodium levels to regulate blood pressure and improve cardiovascular function,
- Support Skin: Vitamin C in lychee promotes collagen production, which improves skin elasticity and may reduce signs of aging.
The potential risks of lychees is that it’s a high-sugar fruit with a relatively high glycemic index; those with diabetes should monitor intake. Also people allergic to birch, sunflower seeds, mugwort, or latex may also be allergic to lychee.
