Kiwi

Kiwi cultivation has become a major commercial crop in Nepal’s mid-hill regions (1,200–2,400m altitude) due to its high economic returns.
Primarily grown in Dolakha, Ilam, Lalitpur, and the Kathmandu Valley.
The key benefits of Kiwi include:
- Immune System Booster: Kiwi is exceptionally high in Vitamin C—often more than oranges—which helps fight fatigue and boosts immune function,
- Improves Digestive Health: Rich in dietary fiber and the enzyme actinidin, kiwi helps break down proteins and can alleviate constipation and bloating,
- Heart Health & Blood Pressure: Kiwi contains potassium and fiber, which help manage blood pressure, reduce inflammation, and improve cholesterol levels, potentially lowering the risk of cardiovascular diseases,
- Skin Health & Anti-aging: High in Vitamin E and antioxidants, it supports skin health and helps combat oxidative stress,
- Eye Health: The fruit contains lutein and zeaxanthin, which are vital for protecting eyes from age-related macular degeneration and cataracts,
- Better Sleep: Eating kiwi, particularly before bed, has been linked to falling asleep faster and improving sleep quality due to its serotonin and magnesium content,
- Bone Health: Contains Vitamin K and small amounts of calcium and phosphorus, supporting bone strength.
