Dried apples are fresh apples with their moisture removed, creating a chewy or crispy snack with concentrated flavor, made by dehydrating them, often seasoned with cinnamon and stored in airtight containers for long shelf life, adding fiber and nutrients to your diet.

Ideal for direct snacking, adding to cereals, yogurts, or as a garnish for desserts and cakes.

Directions

Peel the apples, remove the core and cut them into thin slices.

In a large bowl, pour the water and lemon juice and mix well.

Put inside the apple slices. This will prevent them from browning.

Drain them.

Place the apples on a baking sheet.

Cover your apples with insect netting to prevent insects from getting in.

Place the apples in a sunny and well-ventilated place for a few days, depending on the humidity level and the amount of sunlight. Place the trays about 1 meter above the ground to allow good airflow and faster drying. Don't leave them outside overnight, as cool evening air can cause the apples to absorb moisture again.

Ready when they are dry, but still slightly soft.

Place in an airtight container.

You can use dried apples during your hikes or in energy bars, muesli, on pies, for jams, muffins, biscuits, cakes, salads, etc.
