Candy Apples are a traditional holiday treat, made of whole apples coated in a thin, translucent, hard sugar shell, usually red. Their exterior is fragile and breaks when bitten.

Directions

Prepare a dish lined with parchment paper to place the candied apples on.

Remove the stems from the apples.

Plunge the apples into a saucepan of boiling water and let them boil for 10 seconds each. This step helps remove the waxy coating on them.

Remove the apples from the boiling water and let them cool. Dry them as well.

Push a stick into the apples until they are halfway through.

In a saucepan, combine the sugar and the corn syrup. Heat over medium heat, stirring well.

Add the water and mix well.

Add the red food coloring. Mix well.

Quickly dip each apple in the candy mixture to coat it well, tilting the pan to cover it completely. Remove them and let the excess drip back into the pan before placing them on parchment paper.

Let the candied apples cool for 5 minutes.
