Gwaramari, meaning “round bread” is a traditional breakfast in Nepal, mainly among the Newari community (a community in the Kathmandu Valley).

Directions

In a bowl, mix the flour, the baking powder, the cumin powder, the salt, the black pepper and the sugar.

Gradually add warm water to make a thick paste.

Cover the bowl and let stand for 4 hours or overnight at room temperature.

Heat the oil in a deep saucepan.

Once the oil is hot, reduce the heat to medium.

Take 30g of dough, make a small ball and gently place it in the oil.

Work in batches and repeat until the pan is half full.

Fry for 4 to 5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy on the outside.

Transfer to a paper towel to drain excess oil.

Ready. Enjoy! Serve with a cold or hot drink.
