Mashed Potatoes

Mashed Potatoes are a classic and versatile side dish, prepared by mashing boiled or steamed potatoes with fat (butter) and liquid (milk or cream).
Plain mashed potatoes (without the skin) are often recommended to soothe upset stomachs or after dental work.
They are a very popular side dish for children, even infants as young as 6 months.

Directions

Peel the potatoes, cut them into pieces, and cook them in unsalted water. Don’t hesitate to cook them a little longer, as this will make them easier to mash.

Drain the potatoes and let them cool.

Using a fork and your hands (or a potato masher or a potato ricer), mash the potatoes until you obtain a smooth paste.

Cut the butter into cubes.

Ready! Enjoy! You can also serve your mashed potatoes with fish or meat, pickles (achar), salads and/or vegetables. Have a hot or cold drink or a local alcohol.
